Training Syllabus

The Training course is conducted in 6 weeks comprising 3 modules.

1. Module I - Fundamentals of Woodworking (1 week)
Course contents: Wood as materials Part I, Reconstituted Panel Part I, Selection of Wood and Defects in wood, Theoretical and practical Training is given on Sawing, Planing, Chiselling and Shaping and Boring Operations. Training is provided on Simple Joints like Mortise and Tenon, Dove Tail, Dowel and also grooving operation. Panel Products with their advantage and disadvantage, Cutting, Shaping Boring Operation on panel products and fittings used therein. The course covers Elemental Designing with making of drawing, Bill of materials and estimating. Finishing of wooden products is added feature. At the end a Test is conducted and certificates issued.

2. Module II - Basic Mechanical Wood Processing (2 weeks)
Course contents: The course deals in wood as material Part II, Panel materials II, Theory and Practice in working with Power Tools such as Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Router, Drilling/Boring Machines, Overview of Classical Machines, Demonstration on Machine and Safety Procedures. Demonstration & Practice on Circular Saw, Band Saw, Radial Arm Saw, Surfacer/Thicknesser. Theory and Practice on Spindle Moulder, Tools & Tooling, Maintenance and Safety Precautions. The course concludes with a Test and award of Certificate

3. Module III - Advanced Mechanical Wood Processing (3 weeks)
Course contents: Introduction to Panel Materials, Operation, Tool setting, and adjustments of Panel Saw, Spindle Moulder machines & Multiple boring machines, exposure is given to Edge Banding process with preglued Edge Bands. Selection of tools and their maintenance, and a visit to an Industrial Manufacturing Unit. Lamination & Hot Pressing, Tooling & Maintenance of Tools is also covered. Advanced designing including drawing, Bill of materials, and estimates with project work of manufacturing the designed product, finishing of wooden products are covered in depth. The course concludes with a Test and award of Certificates.

The classes will be from 9 A.M To 5 30 P.M. everyday except Sunday & alternative Saturdays
